Wycombe Wanderers Mascot Makes Visit To Schools For Future Goals Programme

Pupils from two local primary schools had a surprise visit from Wycombe Wanderers’ very own mascot, Bodger. To add to the excitement, he also brought along with him the Play-off final trophy won at Wembley in July.

Year Five at Carrington Junior School and Year Six at Oakridge School are taking part in the Primary Future Goals Project run by Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust, in conjunction with Buckinghamshire Council. The project focuses on building positive relationships, respect, making the right choices, team work and undertaking challenges through a mixture of class-based work and individual mentoring sessions.

After reliving the vital moment when Joe Jacobson scored the winning goal, the pupils (and teachers) were able to see the trophy for themselves, while having many photos taken.

One of the Year Five pupils from Carrington commented, “It was amazing to see the trophy so close. When Bodger picked it up, I couldn’t believe it was so heavy!”

An Oakridge pupil added, “I don’t know who was more excited, us or our teachers. It was great to meet Bodger and I’ll never forget having the trophy in our school”.
Atia Nazmin from WWSET said, “We relish the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of the children by spreading positivity and building a relationship with which we can kindle enthusiasm to aid learning. In these times of uncertainty, it is imperative that we are able to support the children academically, but importantly their mental health, too. Additionally, we have a number of projects running which we hope to signpost the children towards, which will also provide them with physical well-being. Bodger’s visit today is an important part of this positivity.”
