WWSET’s Mental Health First Aid Course

Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust has today delivered an insightful Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course, supporting our Keep Moving Forward members and our staff to help them learn  about different mental health conditions and how to support people.
The Mental Health First Aid course is an educational course which teaches people how to identify, understand and – most importantly – help a person who may be developing a mental health issue. It teaches participants to learn about mental health in the same way we learn about physical first aid. The course teaches participants about the crucial warning signs to look out for if someone is suffering from mental ill health.
The Adult Mental Health First Aid Lite course is an introductory three-hour mental health awareness course. At the end of the course our members will be able to do the following:
  • Define mental health problems and some common mental health issues
  • Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
  • Relate to people’s experiences and support people in distress
  • Look after their own mental health
We are delighted to offer a variety of courses like this within our community, through funding from Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, to support our community and break down barriers people face with Mental Health.
