Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust, the clubs official charity, are pleased to announce that bookings for their inaugural Charity Bike Ride are now live.
Like most charities WWSET are reliant to some degree on fundraising and its for this reason that in the lead-up to the Chairboys final match of the 2019-20 season, WWSET want to recruit a hardy bunch who are willing to pedal their way up to the Wham Stadium, home of Accrington Stanley, rather than catching the customary bus or train to support the club.
So, if you’re keen to help your clubs charity raise funds to continue expanding the fantastic work they do in our local community, please keep reading for further information:
What:
Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust (“WWSET”) invites you to take part in a 250+ miles charity bike ride that will start at Adams Park Stadium and finish at Wham Stadium, the home of Accrington Stanley.
When:
The ride will begin on the morning of Thursday 30th April 2020 and end on the morning of Sunday 3rd May 2020 (…in time to watch Wycombe Wanderers FC’s final fixture of the 19-20 season which kicks off at 12pm).
Why:
Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust is a registered charity that exists in order to harness the appeal and power of the Wycombe Wanderers FC brand in order to do good within our community. As with the majority of charities we rely on fundraising efforts to deliver many of our projects, all of which focus on:
- Improving health & well-being,
- Increasing educational attainment levels,
- Promoting inclusion and community cohesion
- Increasing participation in sport and physical activity.
Who:
The ride is open to anybody who feels they have the legs for the challenge, and are able to meet the fundraising target. However, it should be noted that due to the distance involved prospective participants should have a good level of riding experience.
Numbers:
WWSET are hoping to recruit a minimum of 15 riders and have maximum capacity for 30 riders.
On The Ride:
The ride will be professionally organised and fully supported leaving the riders to focus only on keeping the pedals turning. The route will be guided, transport back to High Wycombe will be provided, hotel rooms on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights will be booked, support vehicles will accompany the riders the whole time, each participant will be provided a custom designed cycling top…we’ll even organise match tickets and a meal for all riders upon arrival at the Wham Stadium.
Training:
All riders will be personally responsible for ensuring that they have the physical and mental capacity to undertake the challenge. However, to help all riders prepare WWSET will be undertaking three long distance rides (approx. 70 miles) that all participants can join. These will take place on Saturday 22nd February (prior to the WWFC V’s TRFC fixture), Saturday 21st March (prior to the WWFC V’s OUFC fixture) and Saturday 4th April 2020 (prior to the WWFC V’s RUFC fixture). All three rides will begin and end at Adams Park Stadium.
Cost:
The cost of taking part in the ride is £300 payable in two non-refundable instalments of £150. The first of the instalments is due on sign up and the second is due by Sunday 29th March 2020.
Fundraising:
Each participant must commit to raising a minimum of £500 (…but we’re hopeful that some will be able to achieve even more).
