Pride Month is important, as a foundation truly dedicated to inclusivity a tokenistic post supporting the cause is not enough. We commit to doing more. Educating ourselves and supporting the drive to spread that education is merely a starting point.
What is Pride Month?
Pride Month is a global movement that honours the LGBTQ+ community, commemorates the Stonewall riots, and recognises the ongoing fight for equal rights and acceptance. We strongly believe in the power of diversity and respect for all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds or orientations. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that values and celebrates the unique perspectives and contributions of our community, every employee and participant.
Why is there a Pride Month?
Pride Month exists because historically LGBTQ+ people, their lives, experiences, achievements and successes have been hidden away and erased. Pride began as protest for equality and a demand to live without fear, however these demands have not been fully realised and many LGBTQ+ people are still isolated and subject to daily prejudice.
WWF’s commitment to diversity and inclusion extends beyond Pride Month. We recognise that a diverse workforce fuels innovation, fosters creativity, and drives success. By creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected, we empower our employees to bring their whole selves to work, contributing to the growth and prosperity of our company.
We stand with those celebrating Pride Month and hope to justify standing alongside them to celebrate in the future, through our actions. We encourage other organisations to join us in supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, both within the workplace and in the broader community. Together, we can create a more inclusive society and community that celebrates the richness of human diversity.
