WWSET Pleased to Announce Involvement in ‘Joy of Moving Home School Festival’

Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust, the official charity of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club are pleased to announce that they are working in partnership with the English Football League Trust as well as all other English Football League clubs charitable organisations to deliver a national initiative called the Joy of Moving Home School Festival.

The festival, which takes place during the week beginning 18th May, will be one of the biggest ever national initiatives of its kind with hundreds of thousands of children set to take part.

The Festival consists of a half day (afternoon) timetable of activities for children in Key Stage 2 (year groups 3-6) on the theme of the ‘Joy of Moving’. The activities will all be available in a digital pack which WWSET will electronically send to schools for them to then forward on to their pupils via email or in hard copies for families without access to IT.

The Joy of Moving games and activities which will be sent are all designed to:

· Inspire active lifestyles in children

· Teach children how to enjoy moving through play

· Help children develop positive habits for adulthood.

Funded by Ferraro UK and delivered by football club charitable arms, the Joy of Moving programme has been running in UK schools for the past six years and has seen over 310,000 children take part. In these unique times, the Home School Festival could reach even more.

The festival has been designed to be very light touch and to demand very little of schools reduced capacity. They simply need to agree to take part and to pass the resources WWSET provide to children via their current communication routes. If schools also have children of key workers still attending school they too can join in the fun.

The official launch of the Joy of Moving Home Festival to encourage families to get involved will take place on Friday 15 May – the United Nations International Day of Families.

Activities will then take place during the week commencing Monday 18 May and schools will be able to choose which day children take part.

If a school that you know of is interested in taking part in the ‘Joy of Moving Home School Festival’ it’s very easy to get involved; simply follow the steps below:

Step 1 – Confirm to WWSET your intention to take part and commitment to creating space in your home-school ‘timetable’ for one afternoon during the Joy of Moving Home School Festival week by emailing paul.foley@wwfc.com.

Step 2 – WWSET will send you a fun and engaging work pack as a digital file* for you to send to parents (w/c 11 May).

Step 3 – Your children (and hopefully their families) will take part in Joy of Moving Home School Festival (w/c 18 May).

*Schools may need to print and post the pack to some children who do not have access to IT.

As part of the event, families will be encouraged to post social media content during the week. This will all be captured at www.joyofmovingresourcehub.co.uk.

We would also like schools to post on social media on the day they take part. WWSET will provide the official hashtags to use to all schools who sign up.

All WWSET require in return is for each school who takes part to report to WWSET the total number of KS2 children in the school that have been given the chance to take part. We will also ask you for a short testimonial. This can again be done by email to paul.foley@wwfc.com.

So, if your school would like to give your pupils and their families the opportunity to take part in one of the biggest events of this kind in the history of the UK, don’t hesitate to express your interest by getting in touch.

We are sure this is going to be a fantastic event and one that our local children will not only enjoy, but also learn some great lessons from!
