Chairboys Chat – ‘Club together’ in Support of Mens Mental Health

WWSET, the official charity of Wycombe Wanderers FC, are pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new project called ‘Chairboy’s Chat’ which will commence in September 2022.

Chairboy’s Chat, which has been kindly funded by Heart of Bucks, seeks to provide male fans of Wycombe Wanderers FC with an informal learning and support network via the delivery of friendly post-match get-togethers following each home fixture during 2022 (starting in September). Those who attend will have the opportunity to talk openly about football plus a range of topics that influence men’s mental health & wellbeing (…eg. relationships, alcohol, parenting, finances, gambling, physical health & fitness, food etc.), all in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Taking place in WWSET’s Learning Suite (located in the building behind the Adams Park big screen), the sessions will begin on Saturday 10th September after the home fixture against Port Vale FC. It’s hoped that we’ll be joined by numerous guest speakers at the Chairboy’s Chat sessions, all of whom have an interest or lived experience in the topics being discussed.

Simon Wears, WWSET’s Head of Health, had this to say about Chairboy’s Chat:

“This is such an important initiative in support of men’s overall wellbeing and we’re really looking forward to it starting. Life, particularly in today’s current circumstances, can be difficult to navigate and men can often find it hard to find a supportive outlet for some of the pressures they face. Chairboy’s Chat will be completely relaxed and friendly and will hopefully be appealing to fans who simply want to get together with others and have a conversation about football and whatever else comes up over a brew”

There’s no need to book onto the sessions – you can simply turn up if and when you want – and rest assured that refreshments will always be provided.
