Wycombe Wanderers Supporters’ Trust pledges £20,000 to back Wycombe Wanderers Women’s promotion push

The Wycombe Wanderers Supporters’ Trust (WWST) has announced a £20,000 donation to support the Wycombe Wanderers Women’s team for the 2025/26 season, underlining the Trust’s commitment to growing the club’s legacy across all areas of the game.

Wycombe Wanderers Women (W3), organised and managed by the Wycombe Wanderers Foundation, enters the new season with significant focus towards promotion to the fourth tier. This essential funding will go directly towards strengthening the squad’s resources, further professionalising the team, improving training provision, and ensuring that W3 has the support required to achieve its competitive and longer-term goals.

The Supporters Trust, which holds a unique custodial role in safeguarding the long-term future of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, as well as owning 10% of the Club, believes that investment in women’s football is essential to building a sustainable and inclusive future for the sport, whilst maintaining the legacy of the club.

Nigel Kingston, WWST board director and President of Wycombe Wanderers Women, said: “The Supporters Trust exists to protect and nurture the Wycombe Wanderers legacy, and that means recognising the importance of football at every level. The women’s team is an integral part of the club’s identity and of the community we serve.

“We make this donation to not only help the team in its promotion push, but it also makes a statement about our belief in the future of women’s football in Wycombe. We are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Wycombe Wanderers Foundation in ensuring the women’s team has the platform it needs to thrive.

“By supporting the team to achieve their longer-term goals, we are further securing the legacy of Wycombe Wanderers in the community.”

The Wycombe Wanderers Foundation, the charitable arm of the club, has overseen the development of the women’s programme in recent years. Their mission is not only to deliver success on the pitch but also to inspire participation, provide role models, and build pathways for young girls across Buckinghamshire to engage in football at all levels. W3 provides a pathway for young women to progress in the game.

Mark Gaitskell, Chief Executive of Wycombe Wanderers Foundation, who oversees the Women’s Team added: “This generous donation from the Supporters’ Trust makes a significant difference to what we can achieve this season.

“Our target is promotion, and these funds enable us to really push on with our focus of getting out of the Southern Region Women’s Premier Division and into Step 4, where there are significant opportunities for the club to progress further.

“More than that, this partnership reflects the shared vision we hold with the Trust – to make Wycombe Wanderers a club where everyone has the opportunity to play, develop and succeed, regardless of gender. Core to our mission, and the Trust’s vision, is about leaving a legacy that will inspire generations to come.”

Wycombe Wanderers Women have enjoyed increasing support in recent years, with attendances on the rise, a successful return to Adams Park last season and a growing profile within the local football community.

With home fixtures at Burnham FC’s 1878 stadium, the club has already registered significant 7-1 and 11-1 wins over Beaconsfield Town and Fleet Town respectively and currently sit top of the league.

The Supporters’ Trust has long championed football as a force for good in the community, with its stewardship playing a crucial role in safeguarding Adams Park and ensuring the club’s heritage remains secure for future generations. This donation reaffirms that philosophy by demonstrating a commitment to equality, opportunity, and growth across every part of the Wycombe Wanderers family.

For supporters, this investment provides a clear message: women’s football is a central and celebrated part of Wycombe Wanderers’ story.
