Wycombe Wanderers are proud to announce that we will once again be supporting the 2021 Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign alongside other EFL and Premier League clubs.
We have always strived to be a community-focused and fully inclusive club and are delighted to support the campaign and help shine the light on LGBTQ+ inclusion at all levels of our game.
This year’s campaign will involve activation taking place between Thursday 25 November and Sunday 12 December, with the official Rainbow Laces Day taking place on 8th December.
As such, we’re pleased to announce that the league match against Burton Albion on 7th December will be our dedicated Rainbow Laces fixture, and will see us proudly flying the Rainbow Flag at every opportunity to demonstrate to the LGBTQ+ community that they are welcome and valued at Adams Park, whether as a fan on the terraces, an official, a player or staff.
The club have also launched a special edition Rainbow Laces shirt, based on the design of the familiar quartered home shirt worn by the team, which is available to pre-order from the online retail store at www.wwfcshop.co.uk.
Upon the launch of the dedicated fixture, manager Gareth Ainsworth had this to say: “Here at Wycombe Wanderers, we’re fully committed to making sure that everyone can be themselves and feels welcome and part of who we are. The Rainbow Laces campaign is hugely important for stamping out homophobia and raising awareness around how it’s not okay to discriminate against anyone because of their sexuality.
“We were the first club to sign the Government Charter for Action against Homophobia in Football in 2011 and are proud to once against support Rainbow Laces this year.”
Linking to the theme of equality we would also like to take this opportunity to make people aware of the All Quarters project currently being delivered by Wycombe Wanderers Sports & Education Trust (the clubs official charity) in partnership with the football club and Wycombe Wanderers Trust.
The All Quarters project is based around fan consultation and is seeking to gather views on the matchday experience from four traditionally under-represented groups – those with disabilities, people from minority ethnicity backgrounds, women & girls, and those from the LGBTQ+ community.
